OUR ADOPTION POLICY |

We are committed to finding loving forever homes for these precious animals and therefore have an adoption policy. Guinea pigs adopted from us must be housed indoors in suitably sized accomodation. Why? Guinea pigs make great pets for children, but owning a pet is big responsibility and guinea pigs can live for up to eight years. Therefore, we don't adopt animals out to children. Parents can adopt a guinea pig as a pet for their child but the parent must be named in the adoption contract as the primary caretaker of the animal and take this responsibility seriously. There are many unwanted and abandoned guinea pigs in rescues like ours all over the country and it for this reason that we will not, under any circumstances adopt guinea pigs out for breeding. We also do not adopt out to households where any pets are bred. We are most insistent upon this. Before adoption, we will make a home visit to give you advice on how to care for and house your new pet. We can organise the visit at a time to suit you. Guinea pigs are highly sociable animals and their wild relatives live in herds in the wild. Single guinea pigs miss interaction with cagemates and for this reason we do not adopt out single guinea pigs unless people wanting to adopt have a single guinea pig they are planning on bonding it with.
We hope you still want to adopt from us. If so, then click on the link below to find out more about the adoption process! To help cover the costs of running the rescue we do ask for a minimum donation of £10 per guinea pig. |
